hi.. im an asian and i had abit wavy but stright n nice hairs... dint hav 2 worry about my hairs EVER! but for the couple of months or so my hair started too frizz up more and more n i start having curls on my front side which dont look good.. i tried quite some shampoos n conditionsers but no help so please help me solve this problem...

I've actually been through the same thing! When i was younger..i had nice straight hair, but now its gone really wavy..not the nice kinda wavy, but the bad wavy. I tried some silky and straight shampoos..but it doesn't seem to work. All i can do it straighten my hair =(.

My problem is that I get really oily roots so often that I have to wash my hair everyday and it's starting to become a pain, but I have very dry, split ends.

Another idea, do a serious deep conditioning treatment on the ends once a week. This is not hard or expensive - you can do it at home! Usually, these are treatments that you apply to the ends and leave in for 3-5 minutes, then rinse out and go about your business. My absolute favorite is St. Ives Hair Repair Intensive Conditioner. They also make a leave-in to wear everyday that repairs as you wear it.
Also, try to use the blow dryer and other heat products as little as possible. (I know - that can be hard.) Every bit of heat dries out your hair.

Reply:Don't change your hair colour, if anything go lighter. Since your pale the dark colour will wash your face out. I'm very pale as well, I wanted to dye my hair that colour too. But my hairdresser told me it will wash my face out and make it pale. Also if your face turns out even more pale, if you get a pimple it will show up A LOT easier because it is red and your skin will be almost white.

Purple hair dying question?
Last year, i did all of my hair dying by myself, (black,brown,purple,red) up until i dyed my hair "blonde" and it turned yellow. Since then iv'e been going to the hairdressers and getting the shade before black.
I can't be botherd going to the hair dressers right now ,and i have purple hair dye here. If i dye my hair at home, will it work, and next time go to the hairdressers will it dye properly again?

If your hair is near-black now, it won't pick up the purple pigment, but it'll end up like a purplish black hue, which looks nice.
But if you want it bright purple, you'll have to strip it, maybe bleach it, and then dye it.
You can do all of this by yourself, but if you want to make sure it looks right, go see a hairstylist, and NOT just someone at great clips or cost cutters. They tend to suck at life.
By the way, I love purple hair, so I think you should do it, if you're not worried about hair damage like I am. (See my hair damage question for more info on THAT one. ) :(

we have the same problem.yet i'm still thankful that i am gifted with thick hair,mostly because others have thinner ones due to revamps they do with heir hair.i suggest try to have a shampoo that is designed for thick hair that gives you less worries if you leave it to dry naturally because blowdrying them always makes them more frizzier and dry,dont forget to use conditioner too

thats a rough drawing of my problem. I blow dry my fringe with a round brush like the hairdresser showed me and i've tried other techniques but it won't work for me, it always reverts back to this funny curl thing.

ok well you need to make sure you do it every time you wash your hair and if you have trouble with it staying to the side pin it to the sid and it should start going that way.
all you really can do it just put hair spray in it after you do it but make sure that the hair spray you put in it doesn't have water in it other wise it will go curly and just try not to get it wet.

Reply:well, first off, that means your not blowdrying them right- when you blowdry a fringe, you normal blowdry it straight. make sure your pulling the hair with your hairbrush and directly blowdrying your hair ON the hairbrush.
To make it your bangs do such a deep curve, pull it the oppisite way (in your case to the left) and blowdry. Then, for your curly problem, pull it to the left agian and straighten directly to the left. Do the same for your little side peice. Don't straighten too close to the scalp- that causes your bangs to lose its shape. Then, with your fingers, just pull your bangs back to the side you want.

My natural hair colour is medium - dark brown. I dyed it a different shade of brown about 5 months ago. My roots have started to show, but the contrast between the two colours isn't that bad. I'm fed up of dying my hair, and want to get back to my natural colour as quick as possible.
My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders, if that is any help.

the easiest thing to do would be to go to a salon and have them put a toner on the ends to match the base. this doesn't damage your hair, it just alters the tone. it will also leave your hair in really good condition. find someone who uses Redken Shades EQ

The best thing for split ends is to definately cut them off, but you really only need to cut off 1 inch =) Split ends can only get as big at 1 inch, or maybe a little bit higher, but they cant grow to be 5 inches!
So if you can. just go into the hair salon and get 1 inch cut off. Your hair will look much healthier riht away, and those nasty split ends will be gone =)

My hair is actually super hea;thy(i got a strand test), and what i use is Redken Butter TReat deep conditioner once a week! It works really well on making hair smooth and silky, as it makes it more managable and healthy =) Just apply it to towel dried hair, and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse it!

How do clean old straighteners?
I have just recieved some secound-hand straighteners off a relative. But they are dirty and have some stains from previous users. I have tried to wipe these stains off, but they wont go. Also when these straighteners heat up, they leave a horrible smell. Please help.

He said if it dosent keep straight or if it comes out or sumthing, he is willing to do it a second time. :)

It doesn't smell bad either. :] I wouldn't get the perm instead because curls to me are better than loose waves or whatever. Hope I helped.

If it were anywhere near true that hair color causes cancer, all the hair colorists out there that use chemical hair color several times a day on their clients would all have cancer! Once my mom died her hair, and it was an disaster, it was a really funky dark brown,
so i had to go to the store and get a light brown. :)
If your dying your whole hair, just make sure its a color you want.

NOOOOO what ever you do do Not use a home kit i bought one for æ‹¢5 ($10) and it was supposed to only stay in your hair for 6 weeks it been in my hair for over a year and it was supposed to be honey blonde it went bright ginger you can only dye over it or ask a hairdresser to put some highlights in it to tone it down

Reply:I suggest going for kids shampoos because they don't have dimethicone in them (unlike Pantene and most brands) which leaves silicone in your hair. As soon as you've finished washing your hair, put it in a plastic bag and wrap a towel round it - it keeps in the heat and moisture - and leave it for 10 minutes (or 30 minutes if you have way more time). Then dry as normal.

Then dry as normal.

get it straight cut around the bottom so it sits just on your shoulders, (or keep it as long and just get the end trimmed. but if you want a change, get something done with bangs and things so it does look different.) and get it cut on the side with a longer fringe. a fringe that can JUST be tucked behind your ear. get one layer and you can pretty much do anything with it then. you can tie it up and have bits hanging around your face. or you can leave it down straight, or wavy or curly. you didn't give much info on your hair now but i think this would look REALLY nice :D. also sorry i can't find any pics.

Reply:Coloring your hair lighter won't make your skin look darker. It will make you look like you lightened your hair, that is all.
If you want a more tan look, consider researching spray-on tan or self-tanning lotion, then go to the makeup counter and get someone to teach you how to use a good bronzer, then apply that and it will give you a sun-kissed look!
Black hair and pale skin can be very sexy, though...Dita Von Tease has that look, and she is amazing! You dont' have to look tan to look beautiful! I would recommend you work with what you have, and accentuate your own natural beauty!

Have recently noticed 2 patches of hair that are snapping off. My hair is not coming out from the root, but where the hair is snapping, it is leaving short patches while the hair grows back. I thought it was due to my hair being overprocessed because the areas where the hair is snapping is very dry.
My hair dresser says that she thinks I need to take a supplement. My mum say it could be that I stopped the pill after 6 years and its affecting my hair, hormones everywhere. My sister in law thinks that I have burnt my hair with my hairdryer, as sometimes when I have been drying my hair, there has been a buring smell (have since changed my hair dryer). Anyone got any thoughts?? Am off to see doctor this week. Thanks

Do you use hair straightner? They can cause havoc with your hair - and hairdryers. It sounds like some sort of damage styling. Lay off the hairdryers and straightners for a while and dont colour your hair.

If You Use Straighteners, Its breaking Your Hair As Your hair Is Not Protected From Heat.
The Chemicals You Put In Your Hair, Like To Die Your Hair, Is Too Strong Or You Do It To Regularly, And Its Breaking Your Hair Off.
Stress.
Or Like Your Mum Says, Hormones.

sounds like heat damage. cut back on the heat and when you do use heat use a heat protectant and dont use the highest setting. Deep condition once a week. Use conditioner every wash, and drink lots of water. Moisture comes from within.
If its splits you need to cut them off. otherwise they're gonna travel up the shaft and cause more damage.
Also you can try air drying your hair for a while and use a leave in conditioner when you do so.

from what you are saying i have no doubt that it is due to over stressed hair - probably down to straightners and abuse x If it was alopecia it would be comin out from the cuticle so I certainly wouldnt blame hormones and advise supplements you should be giving your hair a break - a routine condition treatment and protect from hairdryers and straightners then you will find your hair will grow back effectively xx

Reply:Well, warm weather helps so your in luck! Also make sure you eat a lot of protein to keep it healthy and use shampoos that help it not break and keep it moisterized. Also, try and keep your hair natural as possible (no heat tools like flat or curling irons and minimal hair products).

no you dont need to use a curling tong if you have one it will work but if you dont and you have a hair straightener you could use that to curl it
just place it on the sectioned hair on an angle and pull down slowly while twisting it around a full time or two full times if your hair is extra long
if you dont have a hair straightener the cheapest curling tongs that are good quality that you can get are baby pro ones there around 60 dollars

Okay my hair is dyed black, and i want a change, i want a fairly vivid red. Whats my best option... Buy hair stripper stuff and then dye red, or bleach the hair and dye on top of that? Any other suggestions?? Also, how does the hair stripper stuff work?? I'm really wanting red hair right now, and i dont actually want to wait,,,or let the dye gradually fade (as that would look yuck) so, answers on a postcard please!

Reply:hair stripper would work but it wrecks your hair A LOT more then bleaching it does if you were to use the stripper once it would be fine but if you were to continually use it your hair would get completely ruined i would suggest mid bleaching it so only leaving the bleach in for around half to time the packet says and then going red over which will leave it rather vivid thats only if your planning on doing it yourself but because your going from a darker couour to a lighter colour i strongly suggest going to a hair dressers and getting it done professionally you can always go darker yourself but my advice is to never go lighter

Reply:ok - if you bleach your hair the red wouldnt last a week as it will be too porous x to strip back the colour is extremely damaging and will leave an uneven tone throughout the hair x as a hairdresser i would suggest you seek a professional to take a look at it and see if it will be possible to put a colour system specifically designed for black or dark hair - loreal does make a vivid red tht does just tht and i have used it lotsa times with effective results and its very permanent and lasts well x

Reply:I'm a hair dresser yes stipping kill ur hair the best and coolest way is get a heavy highlite with foils thick chunks u would have to lift it up with hair bleach to a blondish then deposit with a red, I love the 2 colors together black and red I had the bottom of my hair 3-4 inches red the rest was black looked so good like Ozzy use to have it good luck

Second day after washing hair?
Does anyone have any tips on how to make your hair look more 'fresh' after not washing it?
Without washing it obviously!
What I mean is, because it sounds confusing - I washed my hair during the day yesterday, didn't wash it this morning as I didn't have time, want to wait till tonight to do it but it's looking a bit.. greasy?
Any ideas? Thanks!

There is something called 'dry shampoo' which makes your hair look fresh, and just washed.
It's just a powder you put on your roots, scrub in then brush out. It worked for me, and there's a few to chose from.

The old standby for degreasing hair without washing it is to dust your scalp with talcum powder, leave it a couple of minutes, which will absorb the grease, then brush it all out.
You can also get "dry shampoo" powders that are designed for doing this.
I can't vouch for how well this works as I haven't tried it, but I have been told this works.

Reply:This works for me every time. Spray a leave in conditioner on your hair and then fluff with a towel like you do when your hair is wet. I like Sunsilk. It's really light and smells good. This makes my hair look like I just washed it. Just spray on lightly, don't douse!
