A question about hair. Help please??

Okay my hair is dyed black, and i want a change, i want a fairly vivid red. Whats my best option... Buy hair stripper stuff and then dye red, or bleach the hair and dye on top of that? Any other suggestions?? Also, how does the hair stripper stuff work?? I'm really wanting red hair right now, and i dont actually want to wait,,,or let the dye gradually fade (as that would look yuck) so, answers on a postcard please!

If your hair is black then your going have to bleach it to make the color vivid. or else your going to have a weird rusty color.

Reply:hair stripper would work but it wrecks your hair A LOT more then bleaching it does if you were to use the stripper once it would be fine but if you were to continually use it your hair would get completely ruined i would suggest mid bleaching it so only leaving the bleach in for around half to time the packet says and then going red over which will leave it rather vivid thats only if your planning on doing it yourself but because your going from a darker couour to a lighter colour i strongly suggest going to a hair dressers and getting it done professionally you can always go darker yourself but my advice is to never go lighter

Reply:ok - if you bleach your hair the red wouldnt last a week as it will be too porous x to strip back the colour is extremely damaging and will leave an uneven tone throughout the hair x as a hairdresser i would suggest you seek a professional to take a look at it and see if it will be possible to put a colour system specifically designed for black or dark hair - loreal does make a vivid red tht does just tht and i have used it lotsa times with effective results and its very permanent and lasts well x

Reply:I'm a hair dresser yes stipping kill ur hair the best and coolest way is get a heavy highlite with foils thick chunks u would have to lift it up with hair bleach to a blondish then deposit with a red, I love the 2 colors together black and red I had the bottom of my hair 3-4 inches red the rest was black looked so good like Ozzy use to have it good luck
