I have thick,hip-length hair...how high or how low to secure a good-looking ponytail ?
It depends on the shape of your profile. When putting your hair up, you should have an invisible straight line that connects your chin, to the tip of the cartiledge in your ear, to your hair.

i would cut it below the sholder length then put it in a pony tail
Reply:If you have long hair, you should pull it back into a pony tail that is right in the middle of the back of your head. Pull your hair into the ponytail straight back and smooth like in the picture.

Reply:My hair's that length too, and as much as I like high ponytails they tend to give me a sore scalp after a while. A low ponytail secured at the top of the neck is usually best.
