I think your referring to stripping the color from your hair before dyeing it, and yes you should probably do it, if you don't your hair probably won't change color, at least not that much. I would reconsider though, it seriously damages your hair. My best friend was a beautiful brunette/blond, completely stripped her hair, to dye it blue, it turned out white blue, took her FOREVER to grow her natural hair back and she had really short hair.
Reply:ok well depends on how bloody red u want it ? if u just want a little red then dye over urs black hair

but if u want to go crazy blood red then die ur hair blonde first and it wont matter ifs its a little yellow cause the red will cover it.

i just think wait a day or two before u put the red in after the blonde, just so it gives the blonde time to settle and ur hair to have a rest.
Reply:OK I'd consult someone who really knows what they are doing. If you strip you hair of it's color it may take the color you want but may damage your hair. I know a girl once who bleached her hair then went and got a perm and the hair melted on the curlers. So be careful.
Reply:well, if you want a brighter, more red color, you pretty much have to bleach it. Just get it safe- do it at a salon. Bleaching it at home is risky. If you dont bleach it, then you'll come out with a blackish-red color. Like, a black with a red tint in it.

good luck
