Oil and Straighteners?

Hey, I have tried everything to get my fat, bushy, frizzy, curly hair into sleek, shiny, thin, straight hair. I have tried billions of products whilst using GHD straightners and none of them have worked well as I may end up with straight hair but it will still be very dry and frizzy and bushy.

So this week I tried washing my hair like normal with conditioner and shampoo and then once it's almost dry, I put Johnsons baby oil into it and the next day I straightned my hair.. there was less oil but I could still feel the oil and sometimes the straighteners would kinda fizz and some "steam" would come off it" when I straightned my oily hair but I got to straighten my hair very quickly and it wasn't bushy or frizzy afterwards and it didn't make my hair look damaged! Overall, I was very pleased with my oily straightened hair but I was wondering whether the oil may damage the straightners (GHD) at all?

Thanks :)
Oil and Straighteners?
how about you stop using them for a bit!!!
Oil and Straighteners?
would your hair not look greasy?
Reply:it might be straight, but itll look gross and greasy. i wouldnt worry about the straightener being damaged as much as your hair being damaged.
Reply:Dont use straightners it makes it more frizzy;

Dont blow dry it leave it dry naturaly cos it makes it more puffy;

keep combing it whilst its drying
Reply:i suffer from frizzy hair too and i tend to get small sections of hair and straighten those individually, working my way around my entire head. its the only way which works because that's how the hairdressers do it and they get it really nice and sleek.

i would also suggest protecting your hair with something like 'heat defence' by TREsemme rather than oil because its just like cooking your hair and damaging it further.
